How It Works
Contact Me Directly
Email me at: jemima@rarejems.co.uk with the details of your dream pet portrait. Please include the number of pets, the size, and if you require framing and postage. I will check my availability and respond to your enquiry within twenty-four hours.
Secure Your Booking
I require a 50% deposit upfront to secure your portrait space, as well as my commission contract to be approved and signed. The full balance is due on completion.
Send Me Photographs
I work from good-quality, clear digital photographs. You can email me as many as you would like. If you have a specific photograph in mind, please specify when you send the images over. Please note that I cannot work from screenshots, edited photographs, or images with filters applied. We then work together at your free consultation to choose your photograph – and I get to work on the compositional design! If there is more than one pet in your portrait, I will send you a few options to choose from.
I understand that many pet portraits are memorials, and that in some cases providing a clear photograph can be tricky. If this is the case, I will do my best to accommodate you, however please understand that your portrait will be less detailed than my others. Take a look at my free guide on how to take a suitable pet reference photograph here.
Time To Draw!
When your time slot arrives – I make a start! I only use the highest-standard, professional lightfast artists Colour Pencils and luxury, archival acid-free Pastelmat and paper to create your portrait.

How It Works
Mounting and Framing
The framers at Ashlyn Framing Studio take care of all my artwork. Each portrait comes professionally mounted, ready for framing once it has been received. For clients who will collect their portrait, professional framing is available at an additional cost.
Ashlyn Framing Studio offer a bespoke framing service which is designed to; meet your individual requirements, enhance your portrait, and compliment your home decor. Pet memorial framing is also on offer, where your pets’ beloved collars, toys – and even their ashes – can be incorporated into the design to complete your memorial piece.
Please note that due to insurance factors, I am unfortunately unable to ship fully framed artwork at this moment in time.
Shipping
Each portrait is shipped on a fully insured service. I always use Royal Mail on a Special Delivery Service. Each commission is packaged in bubble wrap, and sent in a double-walled box, to ensure it is safe and will reach you in perfect condition. Please note that postage and packaging costs are not included in the prices below, and will depend on the current rate. Your shipping cost will be calculated at your time of booking and added accordingly.
I am not responsible or liable for any tax customs you may be charged for any international shipping. Please note that international shipping rates fluctuate depending on the exchange rate at your time of booking – this will be calculated before your booking is secured.
Affordable Pricing
These prices are based on one subject, with a plain background, and the sizes are based on paper size. Your portrait will fill a good amount of the paper area. The sizes match the standard framing size they apply to.
For more than one subject, this is only possible from the Standard Portrait Size and up. Add an additional 20% onto these prices for each additional subject. If you would like a background included, this will be calculated upon your enquiry, and will be an additional cost.
